School Family History

Northampton Elementary School was named after the surrounding subdivision. The school was built on land donated and formerly owned by descendants of German settlers. Before Northampton came to be, the land was called Root Pasture or Root Meadow because it was mainly covered in trees with thorns, vines and underbrush. The Root family of Houston owned land out of the John Brock land grant, which they gave to the German settlers.
